Self-employed Persons

Self-employed Persons

The self-employed person’s class is a permanent residence program designed for persons who have shown excellence in cultural activities or athletics. The program brings into Canada people with considerable talents in both areas. Such persons are expected to remain self-employed in Canada as well as enrich the cultural diversity and athletic potential of the country (IRPR 88).

Excellence in an area is defined by:

  1.  Participation at the world-class level in cultural activities or athletics
  2.  Self-employment in cultural activities or athletics

Note: This is a business class application and MUST be handled as such. Though the program requirements may seem easy on the first look, they are complex and require extensive proof to satisfy. Oftentimes, we are approached by applicants with failed applications who even though they meet program criteria failed in their submission to provide the exhaustive evidence needed to satisfy program selection criteria

Program Requirements

Program Requirements for Cultural Activities:

  • 2 years experience in cultural activities at a world-class level, or
  • 2 years experience as a self-employed person in cultural activities, or
  • A combination of world-class activity and self-employment lasting at least one year each, and
  • Obtain at least 35 points from the selection factors

Program Requirements for Athletics:

  • 2 years experience as a self-employed person in athletics, or
